We've been fans of Quentin Tarantino's soundtracks ever since he thought to intersperse snippets of Steven Wright's radio monologues between tunes by the George Baker Selection and Stealer's Wheel. In college they were utilized to great effect at parties since back then most of the songs Tarantino picked had never been re-issued. (The glut of "one-hit wonder" albums hadn't hit yet since most songs hadn't been licensed for compilation use.)
And we love his movies; hyper-stylized pastiches that are so Now it hurts, yet absolutely and totally enamored of past movies. So it's no mystery that we are totally looking forward to taking in the Grindhouse double feature, coming out this Friday, that he's put together with Robert Rodriguez (another of our favorite modern mavericks). After the sprawling epic that was Kill Bill we are more than ready for a movie that jackknifes our sensibilities in a ruder, cruder, and more visceral direction.
To celebrate our salivation for the impending rush of adrenaline and gore that's sure to be present in both films come Friday, we're giving away a few prized connected to Tarantino's contribution, Death Proof. We've got a a CD and an LP of the soundtrack to give away, as well as a nice big ol' movie poster for the segment.
Enter below the jump for your chance to win before Friday!

this soundtrack is, in a word, amazing. i've been playing my review copy on loop.
Way to not let me submit entry. Boo. 404 Not Found.
Hmmm ... try it again, we're getting lots of entries so maybe it's just a momentary glitch.
UGH. Must just be me or something. Firefox is giving me a 404, And Internet Exploder is just making the whole site look wonky.
I think this means I need to go home and use my computer there. HA.
yes - there is an error with the redirect - however your vote was counted - so no need to resubmit or worry.
I have a never ending quest for songs featured in Quentin Tarantino movies on 45. Guess what I'll be doing this weekend?
and as soon as I hit 80 singles, I'm buying a jukebox for them.
won't let me submit in safari or any other browser.
broke dog!
Your entries are going in, you're just getting an error message. Don't worry though, you're all in the running!
yeah I had the same problem.....so was it really counted? or will it be fixed and do i have to resubmit?
You're first name starts with an "A," right?
Trust me, they're in there ... there's just some sort of script error plaguing the network.
Sorry about the confusion, though.
I like how the "Country/Territory" section includes Iraq.
Like this conversation will ever happen: "Honey, let's take our minds all this horrible fighting in the streets and risk our lives to go watch this hyperviolent new movie from Tarantino!"
I'm a fan of much of Tarantino's work, but I'm not a fan of the implication made in this post:
"...ever since he thought to intersperse snippets of Steven Wright's radio monologues between tunes by the George Baker Selection and Stealer's Wheel."
He didn't really think of that; he borrowed it. Remember, Tarantino is not inventing this stuff. He was far from the first to intersperse snippets of dialogue between tunes on the soundtrack.
Jack Nicholson did it for the soundtrack to Head in 1968, for example. The Young Frankenstein soundtrack also featured dialogue mixed with music, in 1974. Reservior Dogs came out in 1992.
Also remember that many of Tarantino's soundtracks feature music that was already in soundtracks to other, earlier films. Death Proof is no exception.
It is possible to appreciate Tarantino's work without suggesting that he invented that which he has only imitated. Let's simply enjoy it for what it is.
And what's Chicagoist going to do with all my contact information?
Where can one buy the LP if they don't win? I can't find it anywhere.
