dollar%20store.jpgIt's the first Friday of the month which means The Dollar Store Show, a series of readings and performances based on purchases for a buck, returns to the Hideout. This month's readers include writers James Kennedy and Jonathan Messinger as well as theater performers Sarah Haskins and Diana Slickman.

We can't decide which under-appreciated literary group to support on Saturday so we'll list two and hopefully hop between them.

First, DuSable Museum of African American History is having a special exhibit on the Montgomery Bus Boycott, followed by a discussion by leading scholar Manning Marable.

Afterward, Quimby's hosts webzine Tit Elation author Connie Lawrence and some exotic dancers. Mmm.

Although tickets are a bit pricey, we love us some David Sedaris. Especially onstage at The Chicago Theatre, but be sure to order tickets in advance.
