hey, stranger things have happened. i caught my crush dedicating a song to me in junior high. i thought it was tits at the time, but in retrospect, maybe "fade to black" isn't the best dedication song..

K: i LOVED (love?!?) all those songs on that album, except i remember always being thrown off by 'stay the night.' i'm so glad someone else has finally articulated that. julene: ahhh, lionel richie. i had a crush on this guy, brett fahning, for YEARS (grades 6-8), and i never did a thing about it except to listen to 'love notes' on WTMX in milwaukee and pine for him. it was hosted by this guy jim (?) morales, and you'd call in and request a song and dedicate it to someone. then, he'd play the song and read the 'love note,' saying "this song is dedicated to ____, the note reads: _________." it was milwaukee's version of casey kasem's long distance dedication, without the long distance or the backstory. i dedicated "hello" by lionel richie to brett. and then i was terribly nervous that he'd hear that my love note, which read: "i love you." (at least, i think that's what it was -- i missed part of it when i recorded it from the radio to my boombox.) thing was, i highly doubt he was sitting around on a friday night listening to love notes, or WTMX for that matter. oh, terrible awkward middle school. i still like that song, though.

I strongly second your vote for "Chicago"- their entire greatest hits of the 80s album, in fact. Well, except for Stay the Night, which is just weird.
