Come on - it's not like the Chicago Fire Department has been a shining example of multi-culturalism and equality in Chicago. Let's not forget the landmark Lewis v. Chicago Fire Department lawsuit that found the CFD illegally discriminated against more than 7,000 African American applicants.

Also - according to the Trib, while it was recommended that Walsh be fired, he retired before any action was taken.

Donald was railroaded. Mayor Daley Style. I bet some "friend" of Mayor Daley was promised the promotion. I hope everyone understands, after 30 years working for the city, it is time to move on. Thank you for your service to the City of Chicago Mr. Walsh, you have served Chicago well and with honor. My guess is, Mr. Walsh's clout has died. When your Chicago Clout dies, so will you... Patrick McDonough.
