What: Candlelight Vigil at City Hall in wake of Foie Gras Repeal

When: Friday, May 16, 6:45 PM

Where: City Hall
121 N. LaSalle
Chicago , IL 60602

Meeting Description: On Wednesday, Chicago City Council voted to repeal the ban on foie gras 37-6. Only Toni Preckwinckle (4th), Ricardo Munoz (22nd), Ed Smith (28th), Scott Waguespack (32nd) and Rey Colon (35th)(Logan Square! Go Rey!) joined sponsor Joe Moore (49th) in upholding the ban. Please contact your alderman to voice your displeasure at the repeal.

If your Alderman is on this list you can certainly phone or email them for supporting the Foie Gras Ban. However, if you really want to make an impact walk down to your local Alderman's office and introduce yourself. Thank them vigorously for their support of the ban. Personal visits have 5 times more impact. I'm dropping off a Stop Gavage shirt for Alderman Colon.

If you don't see your Alderman on this list please click the link below and voice your concern to them. Chicago has officially endorsed animal cruelty by allowing Foie Gras/Gavage to be re-introduced to Chicago's ignorant gourmands.

It has come to our attention that the Chicago City Council will vote on the repeal of the City’s foie gras ban tomorrow. It is a crucial moment for animal agriculture as a whole and for the freedom to choose what or what not to eat. In the end, this is not about foie gras, this is about the need to stand up against a minority that wants to impose its agenda through manipulative tactics, deceptive propaganda and at times violence.

When books are banned, thousands, even millions of people may protest; when a food item is banned just because this small segment of people doesn’t like it, and is using it as their anti-meat campaign symbol, why is the response so silent? Humane Society of the U.S. (NOT the same Humane Society you may think it is), won’t be happy until we are all imposed vegetarians.

You can help TODAY by calling your Alderman asking to sponsor the repeal ordinance that will be introduced tomorrow. The Illinois Restaurant Association is asking for this assistance.

Forever grateful to you for taking a few minutes of your precious time for the cause of freedom.

Watch what you say about Ed Smith. He's behind Jesse, Jr., not the Mayor, and he's been one of the few "Independent" aldermen to keep office since the Washington days. Say what you want about his accomplishments, but to call him a rubber stamp is to stamp yourself as ignorant.

Seeing as how he's essentially a rubber stamp with an $100,000 salary, I think he can afford lease a Hummer or a Porsche or something to "reaffirm" his manhood.

so essentially this just confirms the fact that it's Daley's town, we're just living in it.
