I second the roadtrip to Louisville for some great beer. Besides Browning's, there is also Bluegrass Brewing Company, and (my personal favorite) Cumberland Brews (you can't beat their sampler and service).

Plus, the Maker's, Woodford Reserve, Beam and Wild Turkey distilleries are just down the road...

Danke, 2016. I felt the need for spring cleaning at the Seasoning.

Chuck -

Nice page. (Your homepage)

Please keep up the beer posts! I was very impressed with the Goose Island Summertime Ale, which is much better than the Sam Adams summer beer.

I'd love to see some sort Summer Beer comparison. It could be a Chicagoist beer competition of some sort, and the winner would be the beer of the week. (Just an idea.)

@2016: My mother retired to a town in Wisconsin not even a ten-minute drive from New Glarus. So be looking for some of those selections in the near future as "road trip 'Botw'" posts.

@joe: I was making room for next month's reader selections. Didn't think I forgot about those, did you?

shhhhh!!!!

It's all about the contraband! How else could we get "stonebells" without driving back to LIQUOR STOP in Highland, IN?

How did I know you would pull this out of your fridge, forcing me to open mine. When it was cold Sunday, I drank the wheat wine selection from last week. I am excited to try this one, though! Please promise no more Barleywines until October, hahaha!

and Chicago,_2016 (and all others that read this), I highly suggest taking the river brewery cruise in Milwaukee. The boat makes stops at Milwaukee Ale House, Rock Bottom and Lakefront Breweries. It is a lot of fun. Taxi to Sprecher afterwards to finish the day! See the cafevecchio website for details. Cheers (drinking a Gumballhead)-Joe

One feature that may be cool for you is a beer tour of Wisconsin. I know they have a lot of microbreweries, especially in Monroe.

I recommend Harborside Lager, a fairly standard, almost commercial-tasting beer. Thing is, there's no aftertaste!

But a Wisconsin beer tour could be cool, especially as a weekend trip for Chicagoans.
