The fact that Springfield's mayor is playing along with this idiotic marketing ploy is another reason to move the state capital to Chicago where it belongs.

Springfield, Ky. also has a Shelbyville nearby. And since Springfield, Ill. *is* the state capital, there can't be a separate Capital City as in the cartoon. I can't imagine Springfield, Ky. being any less like the Simpsons' Springfield, though, unless you count that one hick family in the cartoon. Springfield, Ky. is tiny.

I thought the Simpson's were in Springfield, Oregan (Matt Groening's home town). Springfield, IL should be content with being home to the town on Guiding Light.
