here's why it's funny that we've become "cicadaist." they seem to have not come into the city!! i am so fucking relieved. i live in lincoln square. there are lots of trees. it's been plenty warm out. yet, my block seems to still be cicada-free. thank god. i read that the tree root systems in the city aren't as extensive.
yay.
nothing downtown, either. While I'm happy about that, I want to see one!
Not to get anyone's hopes up, but I remember nary a cicada in Rogers Park (or anywhere else in the city proper) 17 years ago.
