I'm a little sad to see Barrett go, simply for the soap opera quality of it ... especially before the weekend. I was looking forward to another episode of catcher-vs-catcher. On the other hand, I think the calming effect of getting rid of a guy with such intense ... issues will be worth the loss of his batting average. It may be the piece needed to calm the Cubs down and gain some focus. Good move.

I hated Barrett and I think a lot of Cubs fans did too. Then again, my Sox just dropped the 19th of their last 24 games. Oh boy is it starting to suck being a Sox fan again.

Yeah, that video is hilarious! Funny how A.J. Pierzynski, the "most hated man in baseball", still has his job... Barrett is a whiny little bitch.

Julene: Barrett was always a good quote for the media, so he often got a pass from the Mariottis and Morrisseys for his inability to handle a pitching staff or block a ball with his body. The ESPN article said Greg Maddux gave him a rousing recommendation before the Padres agreed to the trade. I found that a bit odd, since Maddux often used his own personal catcher during his second stint at Wrigley instead of Barrett.

I thought there was something going on. It seemed like everyone turned on him after the Zambrano fight. Let's hope that this shakes things up enough for the Cubs to actually win on a regular basis.
