I bet most of you dont' know what all the holes in the Indian on 63rd are from ? well in fact they are holes from arrows that were shot into the Indian over the years the owner actually told the workers that were upkeeping not to cover the holes. Well as for the Kwiki-Mart being on the South Side vs. the north side I believe the advertising group believed the North Side Yuppies are not as interested as the South Side families. That reason they believed it would not get ignored.

Guest 23: Yes, it's very scary...no Starbucks, no martini bars, no Barleycorn, no athletic clubs, no trendy baby boutiques, no valet parking. Just middle class families, parks, sports leagues, affordable homes, awesome local pizza places, and corner bars. Terrifying - lock your doors!

The Loop locations wouldn't work as well, you need a free-standing store. i saw a picture of the one on 63rd and it looks exactly like the Kwik-E-Mart on the show...that being said, 63rd? C'mon! Do they have chutney squishees?

Everyone I know assumed it was the one in Wrigleyville! Maybe the owner doesn't want to go through the hassle. Lord knows that 7-11 makes money hand over fist.

That Indian looks like he's making the Nazi salute. So maybe he's a masturbating Nazi?

I don't know what the neighborhood on 63rd is like, but it would be hard to quibble with putting a Kwik-E-Mart in a neighborhood filled with Gen-Y'ers who grew up on the Simpsons, and if they are anything like me, are more than capable of watching at least an episode of the show per day.

as the REAL guest #1, I would like to press full charges against guest #13 for identity theft.
And if you were looking for a gay district on 63rd st, then look no further than the SE corner of 63rd and harlem. I will give you the point that Wrigleyville is 10x gayer than 63rd st though.

I was guest #1, and I was thinking of it as a marketing promo, not which area of Chicago best represents springfield.

But let us not forget the Springfield Isotopes baseball team. Lets not forget the episode where single people get an ordinance passed preventing minors from pretty much leaving the house, and Springfield does have a gay district, or at least a pride parade and legalized gay marriage. So, singles are a force in Springfield, which has a baseball team, and a gay population, which all mirrors Wrigleyville. And, one can assume, that all are close to the Kwik-E-Mart, after all, Springfield is a small town. :-)

The Kwik-E-Mart is in my neighborhood and yes it is at the end of the earth, but that 7-11 is pretty close to Toyota Park so maybe that's why? I'm as surprised as anyone - I didn't think anyone knew that my neighborhood even existed.

The South Side just got a new tourist attraction!

And, that is a good area to represent Springfield. Last I checked, Springfield didn't have a neighborhood dominated by late 20's to late 30's singles, so an area with families is a good choice.

But there's no Duff Beer. That one, and the one at Map Room, were either painted or purchased as official merchandise.

That far west on 63rd street is nearly a suburb; you're only 4-5 blocks away from Harlem avenue and Bridgeview. Lots of bungalows and longtime city/county employees

So, to answer guest #1's comment, you're right. they could not have picked a better neighborhood to represent Springfield. Just not in the way you inferred.

No offense to West 63rd Street, but I would think the 7-11 across the street from Wrigley Field or one of the Loop locations would offer the greatest visibility, in terms of promoting the movie and drawing in people to get their Squishees, Buzz Cola, pink donuts, and cheesy poofs (oops, wrong cartoon).

Any chance the squishees will include collectible Itchy and Scratchy cups?

For that matter, when is McDonald's going to be decked out as a Krusty Burger?
