It did not take me long to become a loyal Mr. Pollo fan, but I'll take your word and give this a try! (I think I have a more difficult time deciphering English speakers out here with some of the odd accents people have.)

Hey 'english speaking" Guest, the place is called Pollo Campero, and even if it is part-owned by Levy Restaurants, you shouldn't expect someone with the perfect Wilmette high schooler accent to take your order. put on an accent yourself, learn the spanish word, ask for "FRENCH fries" (they won't misusnderstand you and search "fresh rice", or go to Kentucky Fried Chicken.

I though suburbanite transplants hated chain restaurants? How exciting to see you like this place! Maybe next you'll recognize that gentrification in the city is the reason you have your trendy bars/clubs and fancy remodeled apartments in the first place. Or that the Wicker Park neighborhood sucked before Daley took office, and you never would have lived there.

They need to get some English speaking people at these joints. Rice and Fries sound the same from a Spanish person through a drive thru speaker.

I haven't been to the second location, but I've been to the first location, on Narragansett. The chicken is pretty damn good, especially for "fast food" chicken. I also like to get my tostones on... But I'll still take Harold's or Chicken Inn over Pollo Campero, anyday.

Such good news! I've definitely seen it carried onto planes before. The chicken is dynamite but what is truly not to be missed is the green salsa picante that is served w/ it. Take a bottle home with you and put it on everything. Life-Changer.

I haven't been to this joint, but I love El Pollo Loco. When are we going to see more El Pollo Loco's go up?
