those sound like excuses to me, julene. i've been in plenty of crowded press pits in my days. people who know how to take photos make do. people who don't, don't. these shots are terribly framed, which marks a failure of vision. these shots are terribly lit, which marks a failure of technical skill. honestly, you'd be better off just grabbing pictures from flickr, because i know scores of amateurs who took pictures less laughably awful than this without the benefit of a press pass. at some point chicagoist, you're going to have to decide if you want to be a serious presence on the web or just show shitty operation that gets the facts wrong, fills your posts with typos, and post terrible terrible photography. just a thought.

Be sure to tag your photos Chicagoist on Flickr and share them with everyone. I'm living vicariously through the photos for Pitchfork this year. And I don't care how bad they are, I've been in the pit and understand that people hit you, block your view and sometimes digital cameras don't work so well in low-light conditions.
