"yea, thats what they said about the monterey pop festival."

Right, acts like the Mamas & the Papas, Simon & Garfunkel, Otis Redding, and The Animals were virtual nobodies in 1967, not to mention festival board members Paul McCartney and Brian Wilson.

Dumbass.

"its not actually a big story. Sorry, but in a major media market like chicago, a bunch of no-name ass-clown bands does not make a big story."

Please, can there be get another post on the Pitchfork festival. I don't think I got a true understanding of how the hipster and ass punk's were running around acting cool and screaming in the microphone.

No mention of the Junior Boys or the Field? Those were definitely my 2 fav acts of the day.

i've seen pavement and the jicks and was compelled by both. Malkmus' squawk is charming with a band but dredful without. The songs are still there, but the delivery didn't cut it for me.

I'm of the "seasoned" contingent, and I like Sea & Cake records, but again - no translation live.

As are the Sea and Cake. I thought everyone knew that -- perhaps its just us "slightly older" Guests!

stephen malkmus was pretty good as a solo act. hate to break it to you, but pavement and the jicks are boring as hell live.

It's a big story, and it's not like we're covering it to the exclusion of everything else.

Boy are you going to love us when Lollapalooza rolls into town ...
