We recently heard a joke of an urban legend, stating that women who swim in Lake Michigan get mysteriously pregnant. Obviously a falsehood, but just the thought of those words being even half true have made us even less likely to go for a dive in the not-so-pristine waters of our beaches' shores. That said, we love taking a stroll along the paths of the lake, getting in a bit of exercise and enjoying some prime people-watching opportunities, as thousands of Chicagoans descend upon the sand. Flickr user kudzuplanet hauled herself up to the top of the Hancock to get this fantastic shot (one of our all-time FPF faves), managing to enjoy a great scene at a decidedly safe distance away from the water.

Stroger Makes Hollywood Play

What a fun photo!
Great photo... and a technical comment, Olivia: I really like how you've linked the photo itself back to flickr (as opposed to providing a tiny link at the bottom of the post). As an occasional contributer, I wish the rest of Chicagoist would follow your lead on that one.
What't with all the BP ads? Chicagoist is dead to me.
Love this shot, I spent almost 5 minutes staring at the full-size version.
i.e. cleanliness of Lake Michigan - the last time I fully submerged myself in it was while watching the sun rise over it after a long night of drinking. I ended up with an eye infection, had to get drops for them. gross.
Come on, #3 -- the amazing irony of having BP ads all over a post that takes a swipe at Lake Michigan pollution is worth the price of admission alone.
