I'm waiting. I'm hoping they keep it going. God I love my Cubs, but I'm so not ready to get my heart broken AGAIN. But baseball and football and all this awesome, I think my head is going to explode. and #9? I agree wholeheartedly. I miss being able to go to first day of sales and actually be able to GET tickets. But those days are long past.

Hmm ... I seem to recall a few months back certain versions of the third-person Chicagoist and his loyal band of named commenters complaining that Sweet Lou was just too old and unpredictable to handle the Cubs' problems ... even though even at that point, the Cubs were in second place. My response (I used a name back then, too) as a long-time Piniella fan was that you people should just shut up, give it time and wait for Lou to work his magic. And what's happened since? Did Lou have the heart attack some of you people predicted? Don't think so. The on-field dramatics so many "fans" (of Brain Dead Dusty Baker, maybe?) thought were so, so infantile and distracting served their purpose and fired the team into first, just as I knew they would. Cubs fans shouldn't get too excited yet, not until we see how they handle those Mets. There's still a lot of season to go, and the post-season is a different kind of wringer. But we can be confident Lou's got 'em on the right track and that stupid goat's quaking in it's hooves. If not this year, then next. For real this time. (And for the benefit of #7, I'm really a Sox fan.)

I love the bitter sox fan (guest 6), it's entertaining. I'm cautiously optimistic as a Cubs fan, but it's been a fun ride so far. I also don't see how Kerry Wood can blow the playoff run. He's one guy in the bullpen. He might won't see action everyday as must bullpen guys dont' play everyday. Don't be a bitter moron.

Cubs baby. time to start getting excited. the mets series is going to be very telling though. as for kerry wood....if he can do anything, its gravy. i have absolutely no expectations on that end.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Cubs go all the way, though I don't think I'm quite ready for the apocalypse just yet...but at least I wouldn't have to worry about my student loans any more.

Go Cubbies! I don't think that Lou has the same problem as previous managers with a need to keep a player in just because they once were good. He'll pull Kerry fast, if he's not doing his job.

kerry wood is back just in time to be on a winning ball club...how...convenient. i wish i could stay out of work and make money and only start back up when it became fun to work there again. Prediction - he blows the playoffs run for the cubs.
