Focus, People, Focus

2007_08_typo.jpg

We're whores for typography. Somewhat embarrassingly, seeing Helvetica was a high point of the summer for us, causing much glee and wonderment. Naturally, Flickr user only-connect's latest project, an exploration of typography and fonts in signage in one of Chicago's more overlooked 'hoods, Albany Park, makes our heart go pitter-patter. Although letters are absent from the photo above, the great composition, natural geometry and the representation of the ol' 773 comes together to create a quality shot.

Replace "we" with chicagoist as often as possible and you'll be good to go.

olivia recommends all her own articles. lame.

I guess you really need thick skin to write for Chicagoist, because the last comment was one of the meanest comments I have read on this blog. My reaction was "OUCH and huh?"

I want to see Helvetica, but I am going to catch it when they play it again. I remember reading somewhere that the Film Center was going to play it in Sept due to popular demand.

would love to see it either on dvd or in the theaters.
thanks for posting my pic.
