If you consider what Stroger's done to Cook County's health care system, the sheriffs department, courtroom security, the juvenile detention center, and the prosecutors office (until they fought back), I think you can say that bringing down Stroger will, in fact, make us all safer.

"We will audit the books, lock up the crooks, and restore accountability to an office that has failed to protect and serve the people of Cook County." Peraica makes no sense. Tony doesn't say anything about murders, rapes or robberies. This is all a vendetta against Stroger. It is clearly not about public safety. Let the U.S. Attorney investigate public corruption, he's done a good job. I think Stroger is a POS and should be investigated, but the State's Attorney needs to focus on keeping us safe from violent criminals. Investigating Stroger and his cronies will not make me safer.

The dem machine in crook co. needs to be beaten but I dont know about Perica, I hope better options become available but Perica might be a default vote.

We need a guy that is a little nuts that wants to fight for what is right and doesn't get caught up in the Daley machine. I was Daley fanatic at one time.

I voted for him too, but like #7 said, his mad march makes me a little nervous. Worth the gamble though if he actual follows through on ridding of us of even some of these people who leech on the city and our tax dollars.

Peraica is a little nutty but he does a great job as an anti-Stroger mouthpiece. Whether switching positions to States Attorney will give him a better opportunity to battle Stroger I don't know, but I hope he continues to be a pain in Stroger's ass no matter what office he takes.

"Are the Chicagoist editors on vacation this week?" HOLY CRAP, ARE THERE EDITORS AT CHICAGOIST? As for Peraica, I voted for him against Stroger, so he'll at least get consideration for my vote this time around. I personally think the guys a little nuts (anyone remember his march to election headquarters?) but when he says he would prosecute "corruption, patronage and abuses of power", I believe him.

Are the Chicagoist editors on vacation this week? If this post is ostensibly about someone who is running for Cook County State's Attorney, why the cryptic lead paragraph? Yesterday, Cook County Commissioner and once and future candidate for Board President announced that he would run for Cook County State's Attorney in 2008 Who are you talking about, Forest Claypool? Mike Quigley? It appears, in the next paragraph, that it is TONY Peraica--Why omit his first name? Also, it might be helpful to identify Peraica as the person in the photograph given the fact that you talk about several different people--none of whom are easily indentifiable by the public.

Um ... not really. As a long-time Cook County Democrat, I intend to vote for Peraica. He proved he was right on the Stroger issue, whereas every other Cook County Democrat of late has proven him/herself wrong on everything. I'm ready to give the other guys a shot.

Why does it seem like our governor takes all his governing queues from our president? This has lawsuits and Constitutional Crisis written all over it. Why? CUZ HE CAN'T DO THAT! He can line item veto, but the Gov can't unilaterally appropriate money! God, will the insanity never end? But this is a Periaca post mostly... Periaca will lose. It's over Tony. Stroger's an asshat who is hated by pretty much everyone, but you're an asshat who is also hated by everyone. Go away.
