I think Dye and Zambrano both got too much, though looking long-term, I'm betting Zambrano will be the better buy. Dye's been good since the All-Star break, and he was good at points last year, but he's inconsistent. He breaks down randomly, and unlike Zambrano, Dye's breakdowns are intense.

Dye's been one of the hottest hitters since the All Star break. I'm surprised he chose to stay here.

Zambrano got too much IMO - he has yet to prove himself to be a big time pitcher through an entire season.

Give it up for the hometown discount. Buehrle, Zambrano and even Dye could have gotten more on the open market but they wanted to stay in Chicago.
