Anyone else want to throw up when they hear the word "gastropub" ? Try saying that word in a real pub in London and you'll end up on your ass, about 3 feet outside the door of the place!

oh lord.. these are the people who took my pizano's on clark away from me. they may have a new gastropub in a beautiful jewel-box building, but they have hearts as black as coal.

As a side note, "English" is housed in one of the true jewel-box buildings of River North. This building, decorated with glazed terra cotta tile and ornate colored terra cotta friezes, stands out as one of dwindling number of terrific low-rise buildings in River North. The facade of the building is now protected by official City of Chicago landmark status, which allowed the building to be gutted to create "English" but which mandates preservation of the beautiful facade.
