Oh come on yall, let’s be fair! at least she's
not taking on the roll of a privileged American version of "Elvira Arellano", by
making weak political statements by taking her carbon Foot print, to places,
cleary inappropriate for kids.

But the Powell's on Lincoln, comment was hilarious! Actually the books near the
ceiling are the over priced cook books,( have you noticed how expensive cook books are?) but I love Powell's on Lincoln, much better than the one in Hyde Park and its cheaper, than even Myopic!

p.s what about taking them to The Peace Museum, they are very kids friendly and informative

Take them to Powell's on Lincoln, and let them climb the ladders to get to the books near the ceiling.

It's me, Julie! I'm so excited you guys were able to help my sister & I on such short notice. Chicagoist & Chicagoist readers: YOU ROCK!

We're leaving around 10a.m. for our big last-day-of-summer extraveganza, so thanks a million for the tips. I'll have to send you some photos afterwards. We're definitely going to hit as many of the places you suggested as we can!

You can see my own blog post about this here:

American Science and Surplus (ASS, as my friends and I call it) is indeed awesome. There are so many things to check out there, it is ridiculous. My favorite sunday afternoon date consists of a bike ride up to ASS, then cocktails at the Blue Angel, a diner in the same shopping center.

Good suggestions already. I'll add a few quick thoughts.

West of Western, south of Peterson, is Rosehill Cemetary, it's huge and a good place to walk off some of the junk food.

Merz Apothecary in Lincoln Square is fun, and it's a nice spot to walk around.

How about a stop at the United Center for a photo op with Michael Jordan?

Enjoy!

Garfield Park Conservatory - to see the plants, the kids area and the 'Niki in the Garden' exhibit. Parking is free and it's a gorgeous place. The kids will love it - rain or shine.
