As the week winds down, here are some things of note while we go out and find a fuck lion.

- Bank of America’s pending acquisition of LaSalle Bank could cost the metropolitan Chicago area over 10,000 jobs over the next two years when completed.
- Chicago Public School teachers voted against a strike authorization Wednesday.
- More Bats! With!! RABIES!!!
- Talk about a “money shot”: A Rogers Park resident riding a bike while carrying a gun in his waistband accidentally shot himself in the ding-ding. He’s now recovering while a $60K bond was placed on him for unlawful use of a weapon.
- Playboy launches a networking site for college students; everyone claims Hef as a “friend.”

Chicagoist's Extra, Extra! Is it supposed to be Chicago Fark? Is it suppose to be Chicago Tribune.com? Unless there's a clear direction, it's a waste of space on Chicagoist's page. I rarely go to any of the links because if I wanted news items from around Chicago, I would just go to chicagotribune.com, chicagoreader.com, etc. Put some interesting spin on something and make it funny like Fark.com or have write one big send up of a news item. If I want to read the Metro section of the Tribune, I'll go there, not Chicagoist. A trained monkey could put "Chicago" into google.com news and come up with the same thing you do. Wait, I just ruined your secret didn't I?
Can't believe there's no mention of BP backing down yet. Thought you guys would be all over that. But no, there's only been about 4 items posted today. I don't even live in NY, but find Gothamist so much more interesting...at least they update it.
Sigh.
Guests are twats.
Not all of them are twats, Jake M. Just the differently abled ones like our friend here who are lost when the lightning spooks their trained monkeys away from their keyboards until the storms pass.
I don't care what anyone says, I read chicagotribune.com all the time and I didn't see that story about the moron who shot himself. Given all the damage that the storms have done in my neighborhood and at my home tonight, I was pleased to read an item that made me laugh out loud. Thanks for making me laugh. :)
I thought this was a particularly funny news update. And gothamist is terrible 99% of the time. Jen Chung and Jen Carlson talk about babies, weddings and marriage while Jake Dobkin exclusively talks about graffitti for white people.
Oh and they have coupons every so often.
If anything is a total laugh riot it's Shanghaist.
and once again, chicago public schools screw the teachers. then again, it's not like the teacher's union does anything to remotely support the teachers either.
i suggested chicagoist cover a story about how hundreds of CPS teachers aren't getting paid because of a glitch in their "new" (5 months old) payroll software. apparently that's not a good public interest piece for chicagoist to cover though...
Love the EDSBS link, guys. That's the best college football site around, bar none.
And I actually don't mind these quick links -- it's not like I'm a regular reader of
ChicagoBusiness.com
