We're not sure if you've managed to stay outside R. Kelly's Trapped in the Closet, or if you've managed to avoid the real-life "hip-hopera" of his ongoing saga surrounding a sex tape that surfaced several years ago featuring Kelly and an underage girl. If you have, kudos. Every time we think about Kelly peeing on anyone, much less a girl in her early teens, we just cringe. Golden showers are fine if that's your thing, but the kids aren't all right with us.
It's not okay with Chicago police, either, and they've been trying to prove this all happened and get some criminal charges brought down on Kelly. Despite all this grossness, Kelly's popularity has continued to grow. It brings up questions of if what an artist does in his/her personal life should influence the buying public to alter their habits. But, we just don't get him anyway. Have you heard "Trapped ..." before? Wack.
Kelly got another delay to his trial proceedings ... at the hands of a woman who just had a child. According to the Chicago Tribune, Assistant State's Atty. Shauna Boliker, gave birth last week, "prompting the judge presiding over the case to indefinitely postpone the trial less than two weeks before its scheduled start on Sept. 17." It's disheartening that something like this would take five years to prosecute. It also makes us wonder just how possible it is to nail down a celebrity when they've committed a crime. Justice may be blind, but it seems she really digs those with cash.
"R. Kelly Sold Out" by Wes Mantooth

From the Boondocks....
"If I didn't want to be peed on, I'd move outta the way"
Damn R.Kelly and his money for getting that prosecutor pregnant!
guest #2: it seems like the pregnancy wouldn't be an issue if it didn't take them 5 years to get him to trial.
"But, we just don't get him anyway. "
What's to get? He's a prolific r&b singer.
Please please please send this pervert to jail. I won't be able to take the news or the press conference if he walks on this.
Actually the Dave Chappell "I Wanna Piss On You" video and the Remix is better than the Boodocks R Kelly Trail episode, but I love me both. This is what we need More Boodocks, and Chappel, less perverts like Kelly, and let me add Snoop Dog in too
He allegedly committed a crime. That same article in the Trib said that the girl in the video refuses to testify.
Ever think he may be innocent? And the reason there has been such a delay is because it is a shitty case no one wants to prosecute?
I got odds that R. Kelly gets off for this, not because he has money, but because the prosecution has a terrible case.
Dave Chappel's skit was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time
what's to get? how monotone recordings of spoken word episodes telling some weird ass story qualify as "songs."
guest #6: the same article also said her relatives would be willing to identify her.
Can we stop with the "We're not sure if..." starts to articles. You're a news blog, you're supposed to be informing us, you don't have to ask if we know already.
Wait, wait, wait. The prosecutor had her baby two weeks before trial and that justified a continuance? Hey prosecutor's office! At some point in the last 35+ weeks did you notice that your lead prosecutor was having a baby? Did you consider staffing the case so that you would not need an "indefinite" continuance? Forget the five year issue. This came with probably 30 weeks notice.
I suspect that 6 is right. The case has all the hallmarks of a bad prosecution that is going forward hail mary style. I know, however, that 7 is right.
WoahWoah, hold on now- Trapped in The Closet= "Wack"?? Put a quarter in your ass because you just played yourself. Go comment on the artistic works of some wisconsin mouth-harpist or perhaps stop being so jealous of Rob's storytelling talent and admit a lifetime of unfortunate listening habits has robbed you of good taste. Rob IS Chicago. We are ALL Rob Kelly. How dare you. And yeah he peed on a young lady but since when are we so puritanical. I might pee on someone today if i so choose. If you're into it we can pee on each other while listening to R.Kelly's Choclate Factory. Offer's out there.
This post was really icky, Jocelyn. Subject matter as gross as this could benefit from a little literary restraint. Myself, I drop the F-bomb all the time, but there's something about seeing certain phrases in print (pick one, really) that makes me cringe, and I think this whole matter could use a little class and restraint by those who report on it. Just my opinion.
Say what you will about him as a roll model or whatever... but Trapped is not whack.
Er, role. Sorry about that.
well, yea sure the States Attorney probably screwed up on this trail, but its hard to focus when half your staff was at the county board protesting for a raise while the other half was/is busy defending Police Torturer Jon Burge and covering Daley's tracks who turned a blinds eye on the whole thing as States Attorney
Guest 12 go protest Macy's, you sound like the type
I hope R. Kelly gets convicted his celly hates child molesters.
p.s guesst what's Robert's favorite Chicagoits section? "Baby on Board"
"He's got a lot of balls. Talkin' bout 'it ain't me'. Got a damn sex tape out; 'it ain't me'. Motherfucker we know what you look like. That's you, ok? There's a damn Soul Train award right next to the bed."

yeah i'm calling bullshit on not liking Kells. He's a brilliant musician - yes trapped in the closet is strange, but at least he's doing it.
If the polyphonic fucking spree made an indie-opera I bet you would "get it."
You just don't like his style of music.
And yes i think he's innocent.
Oh come on Matty, to like his music is one thing, but the man has a history of liking little girls starting with Aaliyah who he married! And of course she defends it when she recorded "age aint nothing but a number" To pray on children is just wrong
'While witnesses have identified the alleged victim, the girl and her parents have denied that she is the person shown on the tape.'
from wiki.
and ok, while not entirely innocent, i agree with the above commentors that this case is flaky at best.
A series of videos that keep me constantly laughing and will probably perplex historians in the future, are not "wack".
He's probably guilty as hell but you've gotta hand it to a guy who sings songs like "Feelin' on your booty" with earnestness and sincerity.
Since the girl in the video and her parents are unwilling to testify, it's reasonable to assume that the involved parties think less of this than the judicial system does. Should he be acquitted, I hope Kelly will exercise better taste in selecting future sex partners.
Love him or hate him, Kelly is a unique musician with a distinct sound all his own. I'll take a bouncy, oversexed R. Kelly song any day rather than endure super-whiny Wilco or Smashing Pumpkins and their phony art-school angst.
r. kelly is just awful. his saccharine ballads about saving the world (don't they usually get released right after he gets into some mess again) and his messianic video twaddle are (post-thriller) michael jackson-esque in their craptastic-ness. totally masturbatory and egomaniacal. huh. funny the comparison, really.
trapped in the closet was just retarded. and before you start in, i love R&B....just the kind that isn't shit. everytime i hear "i believe i can fly" get nauseous. and let's not even talk about his lyrics.
i don't know why people think he's good, when so many other people out there make good soul and R&B. i hope his lame ass gets locked up just so he won't be able to record. forget the sex charge - his music has been a crime against humanity as far as i'm concerned.
i don't know how dudes like him can even get out of bed in the morning when people like ?uestlove are walking around.
Spook is obsessed with yuppie hating. I bet he's got a trust fund mamma in Kenilworth who sends him Burberry mackintoshes every year for Christmas. His only charity work involves donating the macks to Sally.
Thank you guest 22! Kelly just dosen't pee on young girls, he also pees on a whole R & B tradition of Steve Wonder, Marvin Gay, Aritha Franklyn,Minnie Rippleton,Berry White, etc, that folks like John Legend and DeAngelo are trying to continue. I say R. Kelly don't pee on young girls, don't pee on an the important tradition of R & B, but feel free to pee on Ferdy!
#22 wrote some "blahblah saccharine blahblah i love rnb blahblah questlove." haha come on now.
r.kelly wrote "when a woman's fed up", "half on a baby" and "step in the name of love." if you had a little rob in your life your love life might improve some and perhaps sop up some of this hating.
and if you're going to dismiss robert as new jack foolishness i suggest you drop names like luther, keith or johnny, not questlove. names like those would suggest a respectable knowledge of rnb and not a flaccid understanding of the genre obtained through a Roots cd rippin' up Connecticut college radio.
ooh i've been listenin' to "keep it on the down low" and "bump and grind" all afternoon...sing it rob. i'm throwin a white party soon.
Seriously, it makes me uncomfortable to feel this way, but R. Kelly is a genius for "Trapped in the Closet." Do I like him? No, he pees on little girls. But I respect him for coming up with the idea of a woman cheating on her husband with a midget who hides under the kitchen sink and then pees on himself. Honestly there is nothing better or more entertaining in this world than "Trapped in the Closet."
And, for the record, most hipsters I know like the saga.
i, for one, like my musicians white, boring and controversy free.
#25 -
i'll take d'angelo (who can write lyrics) and (granted) luther over the clown prince of the self-proclaimed genius society anyday.
and my love life is just fine (track 4, voodoo) thank you very much.
and i've never even been to connecticut, so stick it. i'm from saginaw, michigan. you really wanna try and out-thug me on the r& b cred?
#22
ps - spook, spellcheck? grammar check? remember? we talked about this? i mean, christ, man - you misspelled damn near every soul legend's name in your last comment. (stevie wonder, marvin gaye, aretha franklin, barry white). you write like you're twelve. which means you shouldn't be watching r. kelly videos anyway.
Spook can't spell any word that doesn't have to do with money. Silver spooners only learn the important words.
" i mean, christ, man - you misspelled damn near every soul legend's name in your last comment"
I know, I know, I know, my bad yo,
and I apologize. For the first and last time.
I knew I wasn't gonna skate on that for long, yea pure laziness. But come on yall, even at my most-chilling like a villain on the couch with my feet up-laziest, my prose, like M.CHammer said yall "Can't touch this" and most of you are lucky just to be able to “Break it Down"
Ouuuch!
Guest26 valid point by the way, Kelly is like Bessie Smith with out the talent, but I do appreciate "Step in the name of love"
And Matty, I'm so tired of fools “artists” who operate on the must crass and base levels with no morals in terms of the next generation. Why do we allow them to
hide under the cloth of “Controversial”
I mean it’s like that rapper clown who calls himself some thing like, “Half dollar” Two Quarters, Five Nickels and a Dime, or Fiddy Pennies” or what ever the He!l he calls himself, saying that “people hate him because he’s controversial”. But ya Spook is like “What is so controversial about yet another Gangsta Rapper?
So I ask you Matty, what is so controversial about a man who likes to piss on little girls with at best o.k. talent?
I mean Mike Jackson is controversial and he has talent from here to mars, He’s insane, but still
And let’s not forget about James Brown, RIP. These folks, along with Earth Wind and Fire, etc, rt of a grand tradition that Pervert Kelly will be just a blimp on the historic screen, yo
p.s and I like how he acts like he's an " R & B Thug"
Please lock him up!
This is not the first time and unfortunately the last time that someone that has been sexually abused as a child has denied the allegation the shame of abuse and the backlash that many survivors face is unbearable.Oprah was a full grown woman before she was able to speak about the child molestation of her childhood. Many people remain silent especially in black families because of a false since of loyalty .Then you add on the fact that he is Robert Kelly the musician. If you think that girl hasn't been through much drama, payoffs, him possibly pleading with the parents (especially since he knew the family very well) he was her Godfather. If this was the first time such allegations were brought to the forefront I would be more doubtful but he has all the signs of a child molester. I just hope he is getting the mental health help that he so clearly needs. This is not a laughing matter he has been crying out for a longtime. He may escape the physical prison but where is his inner peace?because he is clearly not at peace in his life. When I see him the stress is all over his face and in his musical content . He may have high priced lawyers that can fool jurors but, no amount of money can fool God. Im sorry for the length of my comments but, child molestation is no laughing matter and it is a serious issue not in just the case of Robert Kelly but all over the world. Its a vicious cycle and I believe that Robert was a part of a cycle in his family its a sad situation not comical at all
God Bless
I was quite surprised at the justification for having to delay the trial. In the event of an impending family leave, couldn't they have assigned the case to another attorney in the office? This happens all the time in other cases, why not here? It seems like there might be something else going on under the surface.
Guest 31 you madame/sir are right on point "and 1" and thank you for the blessings or as Tupac Amaru Shakur said
" I thank the Lord for my many blessings though I'm stressin' keep a vest for protection from the barrel of the Smith & Wesson and all my n**** in the pen'here we go again"
child molestation is a serious matter. I would ask that everyone on this site do your part in protecting the children in this country. If this hopefully this post wont get deleated as I notice most do on this site. Take away from this dialog an avenue to stand up and fight (not with out fist but with our resources)for our children.
