You can walk with me, Sparky, and we can be uncool and unhip together. I will even "endure" your crocs. It seems so much work keeping up with trends and coolness in this city. I guess I am just too lazy. Or not cool enough. Someday, most of the kids will grow up and realize life doesn't have to be like high school all the time. The ones that have not grown up will provide endless entertainment for those who have.

Crocs. Ugly but comfortable. Super-tight hipster jeans. Cool but uncomfortable? I can't wear Crocs because I too find them ugly. Moreover, my feet would quickly turn them into an unbearable mess of goo and toejam. (Kundera novel?) Likewise, I don't wear acrylic socks if I can avoid doing so. Blechh.

I've worn them before because some lady gave them to me. No WAY would I buy them. True they're comfortable but if I'm going for comfort for going out I'd rather spend my money on Dr. Scholl's not some ugly slip-ons.

They are suppose to be comfortable for healthcare professionals who walk concret floors all day indoors. Where the silly ideal of people wearing them on the street as fashion is beyond me. They have always been ugly. I guess they became a fad like the jelly shoes from the late 70's early 80's which were also death traps. Your feet would sweat and slide.

No doubt Eamon, Besides they are worn across class, race and sexual lines. Not sure about the religion people. Little black girls and fat white gay men sport them with equal fervor. They ARE comfortable, affordable and recyclable. Why all the hate over a pair of shoes? And just how many kiddie toes have really been lost to an escalator? Do what ya like.

I wear them AND think they are hideous. I find them very comfy, but personally will only wear them if around the house or running quick errands due the sheer ugliness. Off topic but, have you seen the get ups on people at Jewel, Target, Home Depot...? I originally bought them for fishing, but they have since replaced my pair of "crappy" sandals, because my feet and knees feel way better after long periods on my feet with the Crocs compared to the regular sandals.

I wear them, wearing em right now in fact. (I'm too old to care if people think I am a sheep or stupid) My gripe is that I trip in them all the time. Those grippy things really can catch up on things. Hmmmm I think they are truly comfy. OK gotta go take my dogs for a "trip"

Everyone says they're really comfortable but I can't imagine wearing a shoe made entirely of plastic is comfortable. i know it's not a hard plastic but still.

I usually don't mind when stories are picked up a few days late, but isn't this story months old? I read about this a LONG time ago. Actually, it looks like the sun-times are the ones that are way late in covering this story... I think crocs are hideous, but I've heard they really are comfortable. But the question is, how much more comfortable than my sneakers must a shoe be to put up with the ugly? I personally will never wear them.

I've never worn crocs, and don't care so much about fashion to condemn people who do, but the last time my girlfriend and I were in Europe, she wore the shoes during our daylong walks through cities with bumpy sidewalks and avoided foot pain. How does one "endure" a fashion trend, by the way? Does the manner in which another person dresses really mean that much to you? Seriously? Are some of us really that shallow?
