As another one of Alicia's most ardent critics, I too appreciate the recent upswing in writing quality, though the sudden proliferation in semi-redundant linking has made her posts like reading something out of the good old days of the internet. However, since even Chicagoist is not exempt from Newtonian laws, suck cannot be created or destroyed, merely transferred, so Jocelyn seems to be picking up where Alicia left off pretty handily.

Actually, as one of the guests who complained most vehemently about Alicia's writing, I have to say she's been churning out some pretty good stuff lately. I don't know what happened, but she's improved dramatically. Way to go, Alicia.

alicia is turning pro. that said, i kind of miss her little "well this is what I really think" editorials at the end of every story. I admit i used to hate it, but now i miss it.

Who still has their original Chicago Card Plus? My latest card is about 3 months old. I think this is number 8. To be fair, the post office lost my first one and I lost one, so it's only 5 that have stopped working on me.

It's going to hit the Chicago Card Plus too... It's pretty hidden in the FAQ for the card plus, but it's mentioned. "If I don't use the card for a while, will it still work? Yes. Each Chicago Card Plus has a life cycle of four years. To obtain a card's expiration date or to order a replacement, call CTA Customer Service at 1-888-YOUR-CTA (1-888-968-7282), Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can also check a card's expiration date at the passenger information unit (PIU) located at all CTA rail stations"

shoot, i was all panicked so I checked the expiry on my card, but then realized this is for the Chicago Card only, not the Chicago Card Plus. Whew!
