The misty-eyed reunion took place this weekend when Reba, popular Loop panhandler Tom Finley’s dog, missing since September 7, was returned to the Anti-Cruelty Society. Finely was speechless, but Reba had a lot to say, barking at the group of photographers who had gathered for the press conference. A $500 reward had been offered for the return, which was refused. So the money, which has grown from other donations, will be given to Finley, who can barely pay his $550 rent with the Social Security checks he receives.
The Anti-Cruelty Society has guaranteed the dog veterinary care for the rest of his life. Following the press conference, both Reba and Finley enjoyed a gourmet meal together.
Having promised no questions asked, the Anti-Cruelty society didn’t know anything about the woman who dropped the dog off, or how she even got ahold of Reba. The minutia of it all probably doesn’t matter: a man and his dog have been reunited.

Car? Or care?
I saw this story over the weekend and was so happy to hear that Tom got Reba back safe and sound - and that he'll get to keep the reward money. I hope he and Reba have a wonderful life together, and that the money helps them both - they truly deserve it!
I guarantee the person who took he dog was some stupid PETA do-gooder type. glad he got the dog back.
Nice to have some good news to start the work week.
Care to provide evidence of that, #3?
yeah, #3, since Chuck neeeeever posts any ridiculous assumptions or personal opinions!!
Out here in the Burbs, Yuppies leave their dogs tied up outside Starbucks ALL THE TIME and no one bothers the dogs. I bet dogs tied up Gold Coast Starbucks aren't bothered either. But leave a dog tied up outside a McDonald's in the Loop for five minutes and it gets stolen. I wonder why that is. Hmmmmm . . . .
It's just obvious that it's some annoying do-gooder who thinks they know what's best.
reba is a mega cute-o.
excellent, now all is set right in Chicago
#7, that's because it's a good idea to steal dogs from the homeless, they're good people. Steal a dog outside a starbux in wilmette and you'll get a spoiled, ignorant animal that probably craps whereever it feels like, just like its owner
Where are comments #1,3,6,7,8,11 ?

Nevermind, I see chicagoist/gothamist is experimenting with the comment feature again, without notice.
