Back in 2004, Rachelle and I hatched this beast we now know and love as Chicagoist. But its ways were too wild for me, and I fled to the safety of "traditional media." The longer I was away, though, the louder Chicagoist's song serenaded me, and today I return, emboldened and excited.
Anyway, hi. I'm Margaret. And I'm the full-time editor in chief; the beloved and lovely Rachelle will segue into the next phase of her Chicagoist career as our editor at large. What does this mean for you, dear reader? Probably not an enormous amount, but I can promise the site is going to continue to grow and improve over the coming months. You can reach me at margaret AT chicagoist.com with your comments and suggestions. We hope you're looking forward to Chicagoist's next phase as much as we are.

Stroger Makes Hollywood Play

You know what I love? Other Margarets! Congrats, looking forward to reading more name friend!
Hmmmm. Seems like step backwards. Maybe some simple vetting and editing of posts will VASTLY improve the quality of this site.
Awesome.
Couldn't agree more, jackson.
Didn't The Beach Boys write a song about this called "Margaret's Back?"
Chicagoist's gain and Time Out Chicago's loss...
I'm really psyched to have Margaret back with time to dedicate to the site and to help it grow. Good things are going to happen!
Any other 'staff' members want to get their nose brown??
Any other guests want to hold out until we do away with the anonymous commenting feature?
I can't wait to see what they say about this in Le Monde and Al Jazeera!?!
I wonder if a certainly alternative news source
has been taking itself a bit too serious as of late?
"Any other guests want to hold out until we do away with the anonymous commenting feature?"
Sounds like something a villian would say in some cheesy sci-fi movie.
"Any other guests want to hold out until we do away with the anonymous commenting feature?"
Wow, you guys can't wait for that, can you?
Does this mean more math? Because that would be awesome.

They seem to believe that once comments are registered, the criticism will decrease. They are right that the criticism got harsher when they went with the guest thing, but that might just have been a run of crappy articles and defensive (Justin, I'm looking at you) authors.
I am looking forward to the possibility of some adult supervision for some writers.

Now get me some wine and a legal pad! - and bring some chapstick too, I've got chapped lips after all this ass kissing.

Hahahahahahahaha. Nice comment-baiting there Chuck. Seemed to have worked too since, including mine, 5 of 16 comments mention it.
On a happier note, welcome back Margaret. You (and Rachelle) once ran an awesome site, and I look forward to a return to that.
(and no Chuck, I still ain't registering)
tough crowd...
Perhaps an actual professional writer/editor can fix some of the problems.
Trust me: Unregistered guests is not your problem.
Good luck, Margaret. You wrote nice columns for TOC.
