provide long term relief for the RTA/CTA is much more thought-out, researched and justifiable. Ya think? I don't think the county has researched a thing, EVER.... When in doubt, raise taxes. That's the only thing these idiots know how to do. Stroger, and his well paid chums are clearly people who need these county jobs. They couldn't hold a normal job. Folks better get off their asses next time and choose someone who at the very least has a brain.

I voted for Claypool in the primary and still don't understand the morons who voted for John Stroger. Did anyone REALLY believe he was going to be able to recover????? REALLY? In the general election, I did something I've never done. I voted for Peraica, a Republican. I can say with a clear conscious that THIS is not my fault AND I don't deserve the results of so many morons. I'm not one of the sheep who just voted party line.

The substantial increase in number of county workers making over 60,000 is very telling. This is not surprising, just sickening. Not to self-aggrandize, but many people such as Kevin, myself, and others campaigned to bring some fiscally competent leadership to the Cook County board, in the form of Forrest Claypool, and came quite close... unfortunately, close doesn't count. I don't know the numbers offhand, but how many people didn't bother to vote? We'll be paying for it now. State Senator Cullerton/Rep. Julie Hamos' plan to raise the cook county sales tax by 0.25% (0.75% for collar counties) to provide long term relief for the RTA/CTA is much more thought-out, researched and justifiable.

These tax hikes drive businesses OUT of Cook County and eventually cause a LOSS of tax revenue. I expect this kind of mismanagement by Stroger. I also expect him to keep his cronies and hacks on the payroll and dish out lucrative contracts to incompetent friends. I also expect Stroger lackeys like Maldonado, Butler, and Sims to go along with the fiasco. The disturbing thing is that at least one of the suburban political hacks on the Cook County Board is going along with Stroger. I am referring to Joan Murphy. She backs the huge tax hike. Let's hope voters throw her out of office next election.

86% of this budget shortfall is because of payroll and pensions and other pocket lining. Attend the public hearing of the finance committee on Oct 1st at 9:00am 118 N. Clark room 569. Voice your displeasure and get your commissioners to vote against a tax increase. Plus with no budget this just gives them a free billion to spend and then say they are short the following year. Demand change.

There's nothing really to say about this. We got Todd Stroger, and I guess we deserve him. I certainly wish he could manage to be slightly less of a buffoon, though. It's like watching a blacker, slightly shorter, and very slightly dumber version of Mayor Daley. Where do we get these people? It's like watching a succession of those retarded Hapsburg kings drool on themselves. They're running the City, county, and nation for no better reason than their daddies did.

They will compromise and raise the sales tax by one percent, not two. I don't find a one percent hike palatable, either. City, county, and state governments are in dire need of fresh blood and new ideas. Relying on the same old machine cronies will produce the same old results.

The Toddler is a goddam retard. However, since the only people that bother to vote are those who are on the county payroll, I guess that's what people get. Most otherwise-educated people I know had no idea what was at stake during the county elections and couldn't be bothered.
