Kevin:

I have access to the most elusive thing of all on a Presidential Campaign: Common Sense.

Weird, right?

Spav1: You must have some secret information that Edwards and Obama's hired guns missed.

No way. Other states have always resented Iowa's power to "call" the presidency. It has been a harbinger in the past but with all the primaries so close to Iowa, opinions will already be set etc and those states will be less likely to follow a weird model in a write off state.

Seriously, how you ever been to the cauci? It is the least official thing ever. Imagine a living room in Ames and hand raising.

I'll be really surprised if John Edwards doesn't win Iowa.

Actually, being so front loaded, Iowa may become more important than in previous cycles.

Thanks, Guest #4. I didn't want to have to be the one to point that out....

Actually, being so front loaded, Iowa may become more important than in previous cycles. Primary voters tend to look to previous results as a guide to which candidate is going to be most competitive. Suddenly, fifteen states (or however many) will be basing their results on the results of two others and the race will basically be set unless it still looks like it could be a brokered convention. I very much doubt the latter, however.

With the primaries so front-loaded this election cycle, what happens in Iowa wont be as important as it has been in other years.
