I have to agree with Guest 31 - given the way this season started (and last year's performance) winning the division is a lot further than I'd expected them to go. I'm pulling for them with the "cautious optimism" noted above. They've got a shot (since everything changes in the postseason), but I'm not getting TOO excited just yet.

Matt, Less them having a rally than the gloating and lack of perspective about how they got there. I'll watch and pull for them as I'm happy for any Chicago team's success but I'm still afraid that they're all hat and no cattle.

Navin...i assume you're snarky comment is in reference to the rally yesterday. MLB sponsors rallies in every playoff city, including Chicago. i think they're all stupid but it definitely wasn't the Cubs jumping the gun. They did the same for the White Sox in 2003.

Comcast WILL have TBS HD by Wednesday. And Guest 15, it was even more fun to be a White Sox fan watching in 2003 in a bar full of Cubs fans. I was the only one cheering Bartman, but I knew the bar tenders were Sox fans and had my back...

The late start's inevitable since Arizona's the only western team and Boston, Philly, and Cleveland are all an hour ahead. But MLB's shooting themselves in the foot again by relegating the entire Division Series and NLCS to cable. At least the NBA throws us a game or two on broadcast TV before the finals.

The worst part about this is that TBS has no HD channel (at least on Comcast). Even regular season, local-market games are mostly on HD. Inexcusable. Thanks, TBS.

It was pretty fun in 2003 to watch the games in a bar full of cubs fans and I imagine it was fun for Sox fans in '05 to do the same.

a.) people in stripes shirts in Lincoln Park usually get Mexican food after a night of drinking. Then they try to speak Spanish with the people working at the taco places in a really condescending manner b.) I don't think there was an issue with the White Sox games only being on cable. I'm pretty sure those were all on Fox, but I could be wrong. It does seem sort of unfair that the games are only on cable but on the other hand, who the hell doesn't have cable? If you're a Cubs fans, there are a ton of games on Comcast anyway. So I'm guessing most Cubs fans have cable. So, no big deal. And if you don't, go to a bar.

Hey Shannon, just head over to any Lincoln Park Bar with the rest of the trixes and all your "desires" will be met by your yuppie frat boy/girl brethren who also love the cubs.
