Chicagoist: The CTA's Weather Warning: Necessary?

Yeah. I got mine at 11.04p last night. Nice warning. At first I thought it meant for this morning. From now on, I want alerts every minute that state that everything is OK.

I think the question was more *why* did the CTA send this alert. Have they sent these types of alerts in the past? I'm not aware of any. I have a friend who received hers at 8:44 p.m. yesterday.

People did receive it if they registered their regular Chicago card. That's what happened to me. In fact, if I remember right, the email said it was sent from "Chicago Card" or "Chicagocard".

I received this alert - at 2:56 am Friday. It's a good idea, but someone's email servers (the cta's or hotmail's) screwed it up.

I have the Chicago Card Plus and I never got the alert. I don't really mind, since everyone was reporting bad storms were on the way. I was just wondering how they decided who got the alert and who didn't. Maybe there was some tech difficulty if they sent it to all Chicago Card Plus holders, but only some got the email.

I received the alert at 2:05pm yesterday. I got the email because I have the Chicago Card Plus. Others may have received it if they have registered their regular Chicago Card. How do I know? I use a unique email address specifically for my CCP. I think the alert was good. If the CTA is going to be more proactive about things I'm all for it.

there was hail in river north @ about 5:30. only lasted a minute or two.

Golf ball-sized hail for about two minutes down here at Chicagoist's Bridgeport Bureau.
