Illinois is rolling out new drivers licenses with a handful of new features. The color-coded IDs have the photo on the left and a tiny "ghost photo" on the right, with your birth date in two, count 'em, two places, squiggly security lines and no more matte finish. The State will be phasing these in starting today.

First the license plates, now this... Illinois is cornering the market on design-by-commitee ugly.
yeah, these new ones are ugly as sin. Were there problems with the old ones? The old one's have a lot of the same security things on them; holographic stuff, a 'ghost' Illinois emblem', barcodes etc...
Seems like they just made em a whole hell of a lot uglier.

Will I be forced to give up my current drivers license? I know that no one likes their pic, but seriously, I LOVE my pic. It's fantastic. People always comment on it. I would hate to give it up cuz there's no way I'm gonna get a 2nd good drivers license pic!
You can reuse your picture usually. As for the license being ugly, its a license, get over it.
it sounds dumb, but i'm gonna miss that matte finish. i love matte finish...
Wow am I glad I just renewed. These are beyond ugly. I think the matte finish would be more secure as it's easier to read and I'd think it would show tampering more easily. Bleah.
I totally agree, I loved the matte finish, even though my friends from other states thought my license looked fake.

Im really concerned about how fugly my drivers license is. It is such a reflection of my style and character. What are the other states going to think of me now?!
