It would be nice if Chicagoist got someone Right of Kevin Robinson to post about politics for a little balance. It shouldn't be hard to find someone, nearly everyone else is to the Right of him.

Obviously she's DINO to Kevin. Where's her Che t-shirt? Her time spent learning about the revolution in Chiapas? Absent such evidence of her worth, she must be a fascist.

So just because she's a veteran and was doing her job while deployed to Iraq that makes her a DINO? I suppose you're fine with Roskam's hard-line arch-conservative record like his votes against SCHIP (twice, so far)? Given that the Capitol Fax post you link to includes the beginnings of platforms from Col. Morgenthaler that are "progressive" your labeling seems premature. Besides mss2400 makes a good point -- this is the 6th, not the 3rd (or even the 10th). Col. Morgenthaler clearly disagrees with Roskam on several issues or she wouldn't be running, but her Army career doesn't automatically make her a DINO... Let the woman speak before you punch her in the gut. That said, you could have at least indicated what her role with the Blago administration was: Director of Homeland Security. Are you opposed to Tammy Duckworth because she's the head of Veteran Affairs, another post within the Blagojevich admin?

The Blago connection bothers me more than her defending torture. Blago hired an aide who is a federal convict for supporting terrorist and then hires someone who defends torturing terrorists. Sometimes you have to wonder if blago has a clue at all or is his head filled with elvis songs and ways for him and his wife to make money through state contracts and selling state jobs.

Look, Roskam's district is still mostly Republican, and putting up someone who is not not liberal (er..."progressive") is probabaly a good plan for the democrats. Of course, if they couldn't capture the seat last year when (1) it was open, (2) democrats seemed to be winning everyhere, and (3) Tammy Duckworth was the benefit of incessant media fawning, it's probably a stretch to think they can capture it in 08.
