The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled today not to grant former Governor George Ryan a new trial. (We kind of love the Court's really minimal, busted-looking website.) In a 6-3 decision, the
justices said "the evidence of the [Ryan]'s guilt was overwhelming," and they refused to grant Ryan an "en banc" hearing--which is when all 11 judges on the court hear a case together. Ryan's pretty much SOL at this point, but his lawyers say they'll appeal again, this time to the Supreme Court, though it's unlikely that court will hear the case.
Ryan might have to start is 6 and 1/2 year sentence as soon as this weekend.

Stroger Makes Hollywood Play

Justice is a bitch
Ohhhhhh, wasa matter is wittle Georgie going to jail?
ba bye
Maybe Blago can join him shortly.
Ill believe it when they show his corrupt ass in a cell.
I with there were "Heroes of the Federal Bench" trading cards so I could get one of Posner. Love that guy.
Speaking of heroes, the parents of the Willis children have to be the best and most stoic and composed victim's family members ever. When I'm in charge, I'm naming a street after them in Springfield.
And as a true conservative, I could not be prouder of anyone involved in showing this corrupt and irresponsible bastard the jail cell. For the first time in a long time, this is justice served on one of the true Illinois political elite.
