I've always wondered what made it "The" Ukraine. And lately, I've noticed a lack of the article in various Ukrainian news.

a quick google search showed that "the ukraine" was what the soviet union called it as a region. now that it is it's own country they decided to drop the article and call it simply ukraine.

hey, uh, guys, i went to a chicago public highschool. i am rather successful now. i have friends who graduated (no, not magnet schools) that are now in medical school.

Making fun of thugs who fight regularly in school is fine with me. The students who want to learn are being shortchanged by lefties who are tolerant to the gangbangers.
Furthermore, I don't see any commenters above who can claim to care more about CPS students than any of the commenters.

oh an just to make things even, a lot of kids went into dealing drugs and left school too. others went on to be, i dunno, mechanics.
i don't think cps schools are good, and it is a shame that only magnet schools get the best and the brightest, but just cause a school has poor performance doesn't mean that their aren't kids in these schools who do very well, or even just mediocre in their lives.
the shit that happened at crain also happens at the big suburban schools too. doesn't mean everyone in their are terrible.
and vice the nyc comparison is dumb. they have the same problems there as here, i would know as my gf went to forest hills hs (aka rock n' roll highschool) in Queens.
oh and in my first paragraph what i meant to say was that a lot of kids did bad, others did ok, and others went on to the highest reaches of success - just like anywhere else.
