BK to do NYE at EB

2007_11_black_kids.jpgThe Empty Bottle just announced that Black Kids will be playing the club's New Year's Eve show this year. The band walked away from this year's CMJ as the clear winner of the "Most Breathlessly Admired by Bloggers and Mainstream Press Alike." However there's still no word on whether Black Kids will be this year's Arcade Fire (massive!), Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (petered out!), or Voxtrot (fizzled before anyone actually saw them!).

We've heard a couple Black Kids' songs and agree that there is something endearing within the winsome dance-pop the band's passing around for free on the Interwebs. Naturally, though, we've grown a healthy skepticism for any band that is being lauded by so many folks that seem breathless to outdo each other with the superlatives. At the same time, New Year's Eve at The Empty Bottle should be great fun, even if the $25 ticket doesn't include any drink specials beyond a champagne toast. The club has yet to name the other two acts on the bill though, so there's a good chance that $25 might look like a steal once the whole line-up is revealed.

Black Kids play a 21+ show The Empty Bottle on December 31, and tickets are now available.
