there's something on ESPN about prior and other free agent starters. some such insider or maybe unnamed exec or scout is quoted as saying that if the Cubs didn't over him a contract, there'd be 29 teams lined up to give him one. they can't trade him b/c they'll get nothing in return and if every team in baseball is interested in the guy, that tells me that I'm right, he's low risk/high reward. The cubs should get a deal done, the money they'll spend is a drop in the bucket.

My last memory of Mark Prior was him giving up about 30 runs (29 home runs) in the first 3 innings to the Detroit Tigers in his first start back in interleague play in '06. Okay, 7 runs and 4 HR in 3 innings. If he won't sign an incentivized contract, get rid of him.

I liked what I saw from Wood last year, he got better as the year progress. Prior is nothing but upside at this point if his deal is heavy on incentives. And most importantly, the Cubs as an organization are not pinning their hopes on either of these guys. Anything good they do is 100% bonus

Prior owes the Cubs...they've wasted millions of dollars on him, stuck with him through all his injuries and his refusals to get surgery. He should sign a 2 years, incentive-heavy deal with them and shut his fucking mouth. He's lucky to be pitching anywhere next year, the Cubs fans still love the guy and the team still believes in him. After all the shit he's gone through, what more could a guy ask for?
