Remember Frank Kruesi, and how he fucked up the CTA all the time, and was BFF with Daley, but he screwed the pooch in Springfield? He just got a new job! For the City! As our chief lobbyist in DC! Wait, what the eff?
Mayor Daley announced today that he has appointed Kruesi manage the City's federal legislative, regulatory and administrative agendas in Washington, DC. In the statement, Daley says Kruesi's job is "to help make sure our relationship with the federal government is as productive as it can be toward helping to improve the quality of life for all Chicagoans." Because he's been such a great negotiator and leader in the past?
Kruesi’s personality makes him a curious choice for the job of Washington lobbyist.As a Springfield operative said on the day Kruesi resigned as CTA president: “He’s a difficult human being. It’s an imperial kind of attitude…The next person is unlikely to be as abrasive as Frank. There’ll be a lot of contented smiles around the [capitol] building.”

f kruesi. he singly handedly ruined the cta. i remember when the cta would work all the time with no problems. sure it was jenky, but it worked.

Oh, come on people. Do you know what Kruesi's background is? Despite his reputation for being a bumbly, difficult guy, he is awfully smart.
He came to CTA *from* DC where he served as an assistant secretary for transportation policy at the department of transportation in the Clinton administration. Say what you will regarding his time at CTA, but I don't think this is necessarily a bad decision.
Springfield hated him, sure. But how'd CTA do attracting federal dollars under Kruesi? Shouldn't that help determine whether or not he's a good/bad choice?
You can't stop Kruesi, you can only hope to contain him.
I wonder if Frank will need that yellow jacket for the DC job?
I don't care where he came from or what his credentials are. He ran the cta into the ground. Within two months of huberman being here he is fixing the slow zones on the red and blue lines. Kruesi did nothing in a bid to threaten springfield for more money. he took the cta hostage and almost kiled it.

When did the CTA work? It has sucked since I started using it (1989).

Kruesi was an assistant secretary in DC under Clinton, fine. Kruesi was Daley's college roommate.
Daley's brother was chairman of the DNC under Clinton. Richie and Bill could called Bubba and had Frankie made Secretary of Defense as far as you or I should be concerned.
It does not mean that Kruesi ever for one second knew what he was doing.
These guys have slowly driven Chigago into bankruptcy, chasing taxpayers and revenue sources out a dozen at a time.
