<description>&lt;p&gt;Whatever the racial slur was, please remember that several similar incidents in college campuses this year have occurred that turned out to be hoaxes. The list of these false-racial-slur hoaxes keeps growing.

In other words it turned out that a member of the &quot;victimized&quot; race or religious group was actually the person who wrote the slur. Those persons, when caught, have confessed that they had either sought attention and sympathy or had a twisted idea that they were &quot;raising awareness&quot; about racism.

For now, let&apos;s just keep an open mind about who might have written these slurs at NIU.  &lt;/p&gt;</description>
