WXRT just announced this morning that Wilco will be playing a five-day residency at the Riviera Theatre in February. And the most exciting part is the band promises to explore its entire catalog, creating a unique set list for each show and playing songs they haven't played in quite some time. Needless to say, we're excited. (Summerteeth, anyone?)
Each show will also be all Wilco, all the time, as the band is playing unsupported for the low, low price of $35 per show. Presales will be rolled out in the following fashion: WilcoWorld will be selling a five-day package (limit two per person) beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. WXRT/Jam USA jump on board Friday, selling the same presale package at 10 a.m. and single show tickets at noon. General public sales begin through Ticketmaster on Saturday. All shows are all ages.
Wilco's residency at the Riviera Theatre takes place Feb. 15-16 and 18-20.

Stroger Makes Hollywood Play

$35 is a good price nowadays I guess. But I would drop at least one of those "lows"...
it's about f'ing time they came here and did more than one show. since the album came out how many times have they played here? Once?! Better than the Pumpkins I guess. Did Billy Corgan forget he was from Chicago? They have yet to play here since their new album came out, although that could be a blessing in disguise.
jg, it was a slightly tongue-in-cheek remark, although I think a $35 price to see a high-profile band like Wilco is cheap these days ... which is depressing to me and my wallet. Needless to say, they could probably charge twice that amount and still sell out the venue.
$35 plus service fees...i'm sure it'll end up being at least $45 a ticket, maybe more. but that's still worth it I think.
given how terrible his last record was, even the most devoted SP fans would be hard pressed to care were he to "grace" us with his presence.
It's still irritating that SP has done a show everywhere but Chicago. I think they've even been to Peoria and Chambana but not Chicago. That's just a kick in the teeth but then again so is this reunion and the last record.
so overwhelmed with excitement, Ill be at all 5.

I'm sorry to say this, but the present-day Wilco has failed to release albums of the same caliber as Summerteeth, Being There, and so on. The radiohead phase stuff turned me off, and I've yet to really get back into their music. With that being said, I am thinking about giving their live shows another chance.
I'm thinking about coming about from Seattle for this. Does anyone know the password for Friday's pre-sale? Thanks!
