With the Bears' season over before it started, what better way to celebrate the end of the regular football season than remembering the good years (roughly 1985 to 1988) over a glass of vino?
Well, here's your chance. Ex-Bears Coach Mike Ditka has partnered with the Mendocino Wine Company in California to create a line of premium wines that bear his name (get it? "Bear" his name?). The sparkling new South Loop Binny's at 1132 S. Jefferson has an exclusive bottle signing with Da Coach tonight from 6 pm to 8 pm. The cost is $10 per person, and no charge for children younger than 18.
There are five varieties of wine, priced from the reasonable to the "does he think he'll get that much for some wine with his name on it?" "Da Coach" chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon are $12 a bottle, and Ditka's Kick Ass Red, a blend of zinfandel, syrah and petite syrah that will set you back $50 a bottle. We're guessing the chance to call out "Da Bears" to Iron Mike in person will be worth the price.
Thanks Kym.

Nice, the dumb American blend

So, will the proceeds go to help his charity for ex-football players that had poor money management skills?
Yes Sparky! The generous bounty will keep former NFL players living care free in SRO's and pickled in MadD Dog Wine till the Alzheimer's they've developed from all those brain blows ushers them lovingly on to the streets paved with gold. At that point they will be awarded a Street Wise franchise to "help a man trying to help himself!"
I know that I speak for a good many Chicagoans in wishing Ditka would go far far away and never speak of Chicago again. Having that loon associated with us is just embarrassing.
screw the wine.. do they have Lucid absinthe available at the south loop binny's?? the ivanhoe castle's sold out, and i still have xmas shopping to do :(
Crushed grapes and football player sweat from 1985...mmmmm, yummy!
