But there's only so much Scrabulous one person can handle, right? Our current time-wasting obsession, other than the betting pool on Jamie Lynn's baby's name, is Chain Factor. Challenging, stylish, and profoundly addictive, Chain Factor has gobbled up way too many of our hours over the last day.
You just want to hang on as long as possible in Chain Factor; it's a get-a-high-score game, not a beat-the-clock kinda thing. You drop numbered circles onto a grid, and when the number in the disc matches the number of discs in the row or column, those discs disappear. Then there's these grey ones, and... Let's just say it makes sense when you play.
You're welcome. And we're sorry.

Oh yes I am! smirk ;-)
actually I am cleaning out a office full of old news papers!

Damn you, Websense!
I was getting good at it, but I have no idea how I'm getting scores.
Right after I'm done reading the Chicagoist it's Warcraftapalooza for me!
Oh Chicagoist...why do you know me so well? Though I am a confessed Text Twist addict, I'll check this out for some time wasting as well. The folks over at G4 were also nice enough to inform all of us that google now has some "tagging" game where you are matched with a random online partner and you get points for the crazy tags you can put on google images. Just sayin..
@This is awkward:
Yeah, I just saw this Wired Science special on PBS where the guy that invented that "ESP" game said that over 9 billion man hours a year are wasted on Solitare, so he's trying to harness all that "downtime" into useful searches, improving OCR recognition, and translating languages.
This game is just the first in a long series of "useful" games.
How dare they try and make me useful!
