Prepare yourselves for the first big indie nerdgasm of '08, coming up Tuesday: Michel Gondry (that's one) will be at the Apple Store (that's two) discussing his upcoming film Be Kind, Rewind (three), about video-store clerks (four) played by Jack Black and Mos Def (five), who accidentally erase but then remake the videos they rent out (aaaand new pants).
Sadly, the event doesn't include a screening, but Gondry will be showing clips, and Time Out Chicago film critic Ben Kenigsberg will be moderating a discussion. The event is free, first come first serve, and starts at 7pm at the Michigan Ave Apple Store.
After the jump, we're taking this chance to post an oldie but goody, the Gondry short starring the filmmaker himself and David Cross as a piece of excrement:

Anyone else gonna be there?...I know I'm not gonna miss this!
Nerdgasm... new pants... love it.
Some friends and I ran into one Kyle Gass at the UCB Theater in NYC in Oct 2006. He told us about the then-filming-in-NJ "Be Kind, Rewind" and how his buddy Jack was having a great time making the movie.
All of Michel Gondry's movies have been disappointing so far, but the trailer for "Be Kind, Rewind" looks really funny. Then again, I'm prejudiced. The French should stick to making what they do best: wine, lingerie and casual infidelity.
