Making the Term "Sellout" Seem Inadequate

2008_01_sellaband.gifYou know how you always feel a little guilty for downloading a record for free, if you actually like that band and wanted to (in theory, anyway) support their careers?

Feeling a little disillusioned with the stock market these days, given the random 200+ point drops and general instability?

Well, fear not — German website SellaBand has the answer — invest in your favorite band. That's right, you can forgo paying for that CD with a clear conscious because if you put that $10 behind the local ska-punk band, you could see dividends in the future.

We find it hard to believe that there isn't yet a Stateside counterpart to SellaBand, because expecting some return on the enjoyment of art seems so very American ... so if any venture capitalists are listening we've got this really great idea!
