The article in the Reader says you can buy Peerless chips at the Strak & Van Til on Elston. I haven't tried their chips, but, oh, how I wish I could get Mrs. Fisher's chips locally. Try 'em if you visit Rockford. But really, don't visit Rockford.

Funny, I don't know about the MSI, but many of Chicago's other cultural institutions were SUPPOSED to be free all the time when they were established--that is how the multi-millionaires who set up endowments for them envisioned it. The Art Institute and Field Museum, at least, I am fairly certain, were meant to be free to everyone, all the time.

I don't mind shelling out some bucks to go to the museums, but when it's $20 for a special exhibit, plus, in some cases, admission fees, these museums are no longer easily accessible to the people they were intended to serve. If you have a family of three or four, it is suddenly a cost-prohibitive activity for many people... the exact opposite of the institutions intended purpose.
