  • Va Pensiero in Evanston officially celebrates the return of wine director Jason Prah (most recently of Eno) with a tasting of eight "wines to survive winter." Prah will be on hand to present the wines and appetizers will be served. Cost is $35 per person, and the event starts at 7 p.m.

  • The Alliance Francaise de Chicago has been offering a fair amount of cooking classes lately. Their class on Saturday will focus on galette de rois, which is offered in pastry shops from New Year's until Mardi Gras. The cost is $75 for Alliance members, $85 for non-members; the class runs from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

  • Continuing the French theme, Monday's wine class at Lush Wine and Spirits University Village is an introduction to French wine. The cost is $30, and the class runs from 7:30 - 9 p.m.

  • If you haven't enjoyed a glass of wine and some light appetizers at Randolph Wine Cellars upstairs lounge (and its amazing view of the skyline), you can enjoy all three Tuesday for $30. They're hosting a tasting from 6-8 p.m.
