Gutter Twins to Slither into Town

2008_01_guttertwins.gifMarkLanegan is, to us, a a marvel of nature. His distinctive voice first soared above The Screaming trees before splintering off to pursue both a solo career, and a long string of high-profile cameos with like minded souls, the two most recent being with Queens Of The Stone Age and Soulsavers. Greg Dulli led The Afghan Whigs, penning Gentleman -- one of the best albums of the '90s -- before pursuing his own brand of gutter-soul with The Twilight Singers.

Two distinctive talents. Two unique visions. And now the two have finally done what they've been threatening to do for years and are going to release a full-length album March 4 under the Gutter Twins moniker. You can catch a preview of two of the songs at the band's MySpace page, and we have to admit, we're pretty stoked. The material sounds an awful lot like The Screaming Trees with a bit more swagger, which actually makes sense when you consider the two principles involved.

But what we're really excited about is the news that the Gutter Twins will be appearing at Metro for a late show on March 7! We saw the two interact when Lanegan guested with The Twilight Singers last time through town and our only complaint was that the duo didn't share enough stage time. Well, this show should quell that quibble, huh? Get your tickets now.

The Twilight Singer shows last year were a lot of fun, Mark was very cool the short time he was on stage. I remember him coming on stage, singing a couple of songs, then leaving the stage. Between that, no other movement at all!

Done. Thanks. The Twilight Singers show I saw at Metro two years ago this April(?) was fantastic even if it did start at almost 2:00 AM instead of 11:00 PM and we were all stuck waiting outside in the cold for two hours waiting to get inside. I'd do again. I prefer not too, but I would.

Dulli is amazing and this show is going to be absolutely crazy. Yay March 7.

Dammit. I'm going to be out of town.

Bubblegum, Lanegan's last solo thing, kills. Really an amazing album. So damn good.
