I *dream* about this sandwich. I haven't been to Soul Veg in a long, long time; but this is one of my all time favorite sandwiches EVER. Oh BBQ Twist, I've seen you in my dreams, I'll see you for real again soon.

Mr Sudo you are correct, I do catch it from time to time and I find myself watching it just so that I can yell at the TV. Hey, is she married to an american (I mean a white american) or is her husband one of her people? Just curious cause it looks like she's running away from something. She doesn't seem to be embracing her culture.

I believe that all the servers are volunteers which is why the service is so erratic/slow.

Wow, goldenshfinkter. For someone with such a decidedly negative opinion of "Check, Please" it sounds as though you're a regular viewer. As for the "annoying host", I've broken bread with Alpana Singh and I can assure you she's anything but.

Yes, Soul Veg was on Check, Please. But I don't understand your suggestion that 1) restaurants featured on "Check, Please" are inherently bad, and 2) that Soul Veg's soul food isn't "American"?

Give me a good old fashioned AMERICAN White castle!!! All you have to do is go up to the counter and order it. No annoying waitresses to deal with. Besides this sounds like one of those restaurants that you see in CHECK PLEASE. I can't stand that annoying host, her and her stupid wine suggestions (oh yes and that cackle, how can her husband stand her).

YES!!! SOUL VEG!!! Ditto on the bad service. Service there is always horrible. But I think it's part of the experience. God I love those protein tidbits.

To clarify on the bad service: Whenever I've eaten there with friends (numerous occasions) the food we've ordered seemed to come out pretty randomly, not all at once for everyone at the table. On a couple of occasions our table waited at least 20 minutes for everyone's main entrées to arrive, while we politely watched our other already-served entrées get cold. The food was still awesome enough to keep me coming back, though!

I love the food at Soul Veg, especially the Garvey Burger and the protein tidbits, but man... the service (while friendly) is atrocious!
