As a student cps never closed, as a teacher one day on dec 17-18, 2000 we received about 2' shit closed also probly in 67 as to anticipatory closings, i don't drive too much but i hear traffic's gotten a lot worse in the last decade or so also the price of diesel bus gas HIGH

Chicago Public Schools will never close. The mayor feels it is the only place some kids can get a meal, or a warm place to sit or people who listen and care about them. Which is why there is never a CPS snow day.

I grew up in the burbs too (I know, I know, the horror ;)), and I rarely remember having a snow day.

Is it me or are schools now closing with the threat of snow? When I was growing up in the burbs (OMGWTFBBQ, I'm from the burbs, my opinion is no longer valid!!!!) I can only remember one maybe two snow days. chicago public schools hasn't been closed for one single hour since i started teaching. even this past friday, when it took me over an hour to drive to work (it usually takes 25 minutes), and only 10 of my students showed up, we had school. goddamnit, all i ever wanted from my teaching certificate was a friggin' snow day.
