More details have emerged in the death of 4-year-old Chicagoan Demond Reed. Carla Cherisse Poole (pictured), 37, of Minneapolis, has been charged with second-degree intentional murder for killing her cousin's son. Poole had two of her own children, 6 and 4, hold Reed down while she beat him to death.
[Poole's 11-year-old daughter] told police Saturday that her mother had "spanked" Demond after he soiled his pants. The girl said he had a seizure and began vomiting. She said his health deteriorated over the next several hours, and that Poole discussed calling 911 but decided against it because she was afraid.Demond then stopped breathing, and Poole's efforts to revive him with CPR failed. The 11-year-old said Poole put a blanket over the boy and left him on a bed for about two days before stashing him in a closet.
Charges against Poole may be upgraded to first-degree murder, police say, if there's enough evidence to prove premeditation. [CBS2]

Boy, it's just one winner after another this afternoon.
Now was it her real cousin's son...or "play" cousin's son?
what about a national debate on mandatory child licenses? Why is having a child a right
as opposed to a privilege?
Yeah, Spook, you go ahead and fight that battle, see where it gets you.
I mean, it really would be great for the government to decide who gets to be a parent. I am sure that would work really well. Maybe we can take tips from China.
Remember Attila, I said "national conversation", which means its not high on my personal grass roots organizing agenda. but poo poo it all you want, as humans continue to not only crowd out the planet, killing off animals and the ocean, but also filling up the jails with unwated kids who turn into unwated adults. Lets just keep up more of the same, lets just keep pop'n out those babies!
A battle will be involved to just start such a conversation.
Do you really think America is the type of country where enough people in society will talk seriously about a licensing scheme for having kids?
I agree that population is a serious issue, but even having a "national conversation" about licensing for popping out kids will never, ever happen in the USA.
Nor should it. It's a stupid, totalitarian idea from a stupid, totalitarian person.
Don't worry, though. I suspect nuclear war or just an old-fashioned epidemic will take care of your population worries soon enough.
Attidla the Shrill
I hope the old fashion lethal epidemic of which you speak gets organiclly created and released
next November in the refrigerator where you are having thanksgiving dinner, on that very day.
Because I’m sure the pox of American pompousness and stupidity runs in your family.
Regards,
Spook
Sure, Spook.
I look forward to your next foolish idea that will never have a shot of becoming reality. Never let it be said that superficial leftists and wanna-be revolutionaries are not pragmatic or realistic.
I find it telling that would insult one's family. Sure, insult me, no problem, but my family? God, you really are useless.
Atilla, what are you trying to do, ruin my chances of getting the most thoughtful Chicago commentator award for March!?! Placing a lethal pox on your entire family home while they gather for a major holiday dinner is different than insulting them. ;-)
Please correct the record!
Cheers!
Spook
opps that'"The Most Thoughtful Chicagoist Commentator Award"
please feel free to nominate me!
:-)
Whatever gets you through the day, Spook.
Every court needs its jesters, and I guess we are both good examples of that.
Yes indeed, how True!
Oh poor Yorick! I knew him well, a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy! Where be your gibes now? your gambols? your songs? your flashes of merriment that were wont to set the table on a roar!
