Police Superintendent Jody Weis seems to be settling into his new gig pretty well. He's exploring changing the hours police officers work to 12-hour shifts, 3 days a week. (Right now, officers work 8-hour shifts.) Weis says the idea for changing the schedule came after a meeting with officers in the 21st district. Los Angeles uses a 12-hour/3-day schedule, and police spokeswoman Monique Bond says other cities do, too, but the president of the Fraternal Order of Police worries that 12 hours is "a very long work day." A 12-hour day is a long day for anyone--hell, my wussy blogging fingers grow weary after that long. [S-T]
